About Exit Erik
Who's Exit Erik?
He’s an exit sign man, just like the green men you see on the exit signs above doors. Rather, he WAS an exit sign man. Now, he’s no longer above that door. Now, he’s ALIVE!
Where did he work?
He used to be stationed above a door in an industrial waste processing plant. His job was to direct the workers to safety in the event of danger. He was very good at his job and he loved it a lot!
How did he come to life?
There was an explosion where he worked, causing him to fall off the wall. He was covered in a curious mixture of toxic liquids. When he woke up, he was alive. Nobody was more surprised than him.
Does he miss his old life?
At first he missed it terribly – but he had no idea where in the world his home was or how to return. So he carried on. Then, because of his adventure in London, he realized he’s not the same exit man anymore. He could never possibly return to his old life, staring at the same thing day in and day out.
What size is he?
Exit Erik is flat and child size, standing about as tall as the average adult’s hips – about 1 meter high. Sometimes though, depending on various factors, his size can change a little bit by expanding and contracting.
What's he made of?
Due to the toxic potion that covered Exit Erik in the explosion, he has evolved into a special type of biopolymer, namely a phosphorescent-coated, bio-based thermoplastic elastomer.
What abilities does he have?
We’re not sure of all of them yet, but so far we know that he can bend and fold into any shape he likes. He can stick to walls and wrap around objects to hide. If he turns on his side, he almost disappears entirely. He can even glow when he’s fully charged! It also appears that he has some ability to alter his size.
Who are his friends?
Exit Erik can communicate with both humans and other safety sign service workers. In London, he is befriended by two other exit men like he used to be, Bobbaroo and Monkey Matt. He also meets Slippery Simon, who warns about slipping on wet floors.
Where has he travelled?
Nobody knows until he shares his stories. So far, he’s only sharing his adventure in London and he’s working with Krista to tell his story about his time in South Africa. The rest is a secret!
Why are his adventures special?
Because Exit Erik shows that EVERYONE can adventure and live a big, bold, beautiful life.
Who enjoys his adventures?
Exit Erik’s adventures are most enjoyed by young people ages five to thirteen, although adults love the underlying life messages woven into each adventure.
How did he meet Krista?
If you’ve read Exit Erik’s first adventure in London, you’ll remember his scary incident under the sofa. Well, that was Krista’s sofa. She found him stuck to the end of her vacuum cleaner, terrified. They became friends that afternoon but Krista didn’t want to be in the story so she left that bit out.
